OpenEXR versions 3.1.0 through 3.2.10, 3.3.0 through 3.3.12, and 3.4.0 through 3.4.13 are vulnerable on ILP32 builds to an out-of-bounds write. When a crafted B44-compressed scanline EXR causes the logical scratch size to truncate before allocation and uncompress_b44_impl() writes using the attacker-controlled channel width, allowing denial of service and memory corruption. This issue is fixed in versions 3.2.11, 3.3.13, and 3.4.14.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-787"],"references":["https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/releases/tag/v3.2.11","https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/releases/tag/v3.3.13","https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/releases/tag/v3.4.14","https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/security/advisories/GHSA-92pq-9qv4-g68q","https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/security/advisories/GHSA-92pq-9qv4-g68q"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:50:17.453294893+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-59984","score":0.00172,"percentile":0.06566,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
