Prior to 1.11.1, JNI-backed XXHash implementations fail to validate the byte array object and the off and len arguments in XXHashFactory.nativeInstance().hash32().hash(), XXHashFactory.nativeInstance().hash64().hash(), XXHashFactory.nativeInstance().newStreamingHash32().update(), and XXHashFactory.nativeInstance().newStreamingHash64().update(), allowing null arrays or oversized ranges to reach native code, read outside the Java array, and fatally terminate the JVM. This issue is fixed in version 1.11.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-476"],"references":["https://github.com/yawkat/lz4-java/commit/dbd86d04b8dd716e1c2bc626be54189997d910da","https://github.com/yawkat/lz4-java/releases/tag/v1.11.1","https://github.com/yawkat/lz4-java/security/advisories/GHSA-xx22-p4ch-683r"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-23T16:39:26.291718493+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-59949","score":0.00466,"percentile":0.40084,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xx22-p4ch-683r","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xx22-p4ch-683r","summary":"LZ4 Java: Native XXHash implementations can crash the JVM when passed invalid byte array ranges","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:12.782091174Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"at.yawk.lz4:lz4-java","purl":"pkg:maven/at.yawk.lz4/lz4-java","ranges":["<1.11.1"],"fixed":["1.11.1"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.lz4:lz4-java","purl":"pkg:maven/org.lz4/lz4-java","ranges":["<=1.8.1"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
