Prior to 0.6.0, SQL_REGEX in sqlparse/keywords.py and the per-position loop in sqlparse/lexer.py repeatedly scan unmatched dollar-quoted literal and multiline-comment delimiters, causing quadratic CPU consumption through sqlparse.parse(), sqlparse.format(), and sqlparse.split(). This issue is fixed in version 0.6.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-1333"],"references":["https://github.com/andialbrecht/sqlparse/commit/d1d80602741f77ec78e5a04ce4719244cf32352e","https://github.com/andialbrecht/sqlparse/security/advisories/GHSA-prg7-hcfm-mfcr","https://github.com/andialbrecht/sqlparse/security/advisories/GHSA-prg7-hcfm-mfcr"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-23T16:39:26.291718493+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-59893","score":0.00337,"percentile":0.26856,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-prg7-hcfm-mfcr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-prg7-hcfm-mfcr","summary":"sqlparse: Inefficient Regex Handling of Dollar-Quoted SQL Literals Leads to ReDoS (Denial of Service)","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:53.903808896Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"sqlparse","purl":"pkg:pypi/sqlparse","ranges":["<0.6.0"],"fixed":["0.6.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3698","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3698","summary":"sqlparse: Inefficient Regex Handling of Dollar-Quoted SQL Literals Leads to ReDoS (Denial of Service)","modified":"2026-08-19T12:45:08.275843004Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"sqlparse","purl":"pkg:pypi/sqlparse","ranges":["<0.6.0"],"fixed":["0.6.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
