{"cve":"CVE-2026-59187","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-25T17:17:36.987","modified":"2026-09-09T21:07:31.353","status":"Deferred","description":"OpenEXR is the reference implementation and specification for the EXR image format, widely used in the motion picture industry. OpenEXR versions 3.3.0 through 3.3.12 and 3.4.0 through 3.4.13 are vulnerable to a heap out-of-bounds write when exrmetrics reads a crafted deep scanline EXR. This occurs with pixel conversion options such as --pixelmode float or --bench because DeepSlice requests FLOAT output while the backing sample buffers are allocated using the input HALF element size. The issue is fixed in versions 3.3.13 and 3.4.14.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:H","score":7.1},"cwes":["CWE-122","CWE-787"],"references":["https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/commit/46e70220dc91dbc1341fac4671704e970b450585","https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/commit/7e772dd704b9b5d6dc2564647d89f7813f608e94","https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/openexr/security/advisories/GHSA-6jj8-cxcr-j8hm"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:50:17.453294893+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-59187","score":0.00402,"percentile":0.34427,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
