A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted Seattle Filmworks file. This could lead to a heap overflow, allowing the attacker to write several kilobytes of controlled data beyond the intended memory buffer. Such an overflow can result in memory corruption, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution or a denial of service.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-787"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-59087","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2496576","https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/work_items/16491","https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/work_items/16491"],"products":["gimp:gimp","redhat:enterprise_linux"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:47:54.990491175+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-59087","score":0.00491,"percentile":0.42235,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
