Prior to 0.11.5, PathFilter in src/pathfilter.ts uses root-anchored deny-list patterns, so nested .git, .obsidian, and node_modules path segments do not match the restriction and pass both isAllowed() and isAllowedForListing(). An attacker who influences a path selected by an AI agent can traverse nested repository or Obsidian metadata, read remote URLs or embedded tokens, or cause nested node_modules content to pollute the listAllTags index. This issue is fixed in version 0.11.5.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:H/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.9},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-538"],"references":["https://github.com/bitbonsai/mcpvault/commit/0adb43901e1a08e85e14b42a8df2442fabc0b64a","https://github.com/bitbonsai/mcpvault/commit/8795716b90d1c4090a82a58647e030763513f17e","https://github.com/bitbonsai/mcpvault/issues/128","https://github.com/bitbonsai/mcpvault/security/advisories/GHSA-9c83-rr99-vfwj","https://github.com/bitbonsai/mcpvault/issues/128"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:54:41.405518556+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-57442","score":0.00192,"percentile":0.08767,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9c83-rr99-vfwj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9c83-rr99-vfwj","summary":"MCPVault: PathFilter restricted directories (.git/.obsidian/node_modules) only denied at vault root, not nested","modified":"2026-07-20T21:56:45.025308Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@bitbonsai/mcpvault","purl":"pkg:npm/%40bitbonsai/mcpvault","ranges":["<0.11.5"],"fixed":["0.11.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
