{"cve":"CVE-2026-57176","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-24T18:17:14.680","modified":"2026-09-29T03:17:16.433","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"Python Social Auth is a social authentication/registration mechanism. Prior to version 5.0.0, the Vend OAuth2 backend used only the numeric Vend user_id as the social-auth UID. When multiple Vend shops authenticate through the same application, users from different shops with the same internal Vend user ID could collide in the social-auth association table. A user from one shop could then be authenticated as the local account previously associated with the same numeric user ID from another shop. The issue affects applications using the Vend OAuth2 backend with more than one Vend shop. Version 5.0.0 patches the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":6.8},"cwes":["CWE-289"],"references":["https://github.com/python-social-auth/social-core/security/advisories/GHSA-fp7w-m676-w7gc"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:02.509636177+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-57176","score":0.00219,"percentile":0.12418,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-fp7w-m676-w7gc","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-fp7w-m676-w7gc","summary":"social-auth-core Vulnerable to Account Takeover via Identity Binding Flaw in Vend Backend","modified":"2026-10-01T17:56:13.705284430Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"social-auth-core","purl":"pkg:pypi/social-auth-core","ranges":["<5.0.0"],"fixed":["5.0.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-4166","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-4166","summary":"social-auth-core Vulnerable to Account Takeover via Identity Binding Flaw in Vend Backend","modified":"2026-10-01T17:45:16.843608073Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"social-auth-core","purl":"pkg:pypi/social-auth-core","ranges":["<5.0.0"],"fixed":["5.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
