{"cve":"CVE-2026-57164","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-04T18:17:54.703","modified":"2026-09-11T15:53:18.427","status":"Analyzed","description":"PJSIP is a free and open source multimedia communication library written in C. Prior to commit 8d5956a, a heap buffer overflow exists in the PJLIB-UTIL HTTP client (http_client.c) when buffering an HTTP response body. This affects applications that use the PJLIB-UTIL HTTP client to receive a whole response body at once (a completion callback with no incremental on_data_read callback). When growing the response buffer, an incorrect size calculation based on the server-supplied Content-Length can leave the buffer too small, causing response data to be written past the end of the allocation. A malicious or man-in-the-middle HTTP server can trigger this with a crafted response; impact may range from unexpected application termination to memory corruption. Applications that consume the response incrementally (via on_data_read), or that only connect to trusted servers, are not affected. This issue has been patched via commit 8d5956a.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.9},"cwes":["CWE-122"],"references":["https://github.com/pjsip/pjproject/commit/8d5956afab2ede95ddb199078dc19a8ac0114f3d","https://github.com/pjsip/pjproject/security/advisories/GHSA-59fr-724j-6fjv"],"products":["teluu:pjsip"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:52:03.409947763+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-57164","score":0.00451,"percentile":0.3922,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
