{"cve":"CVE-2026-56776","nvd":{"published":"2026-07-08T14:17:17.553","modified":"2026-10-29T19:17:23.180","status":"Analyzed","description":"n8n before 1.123.55, 2.25.7, and 2.26.2 contains an authorization bypass in the POST /workflows/{workflowId}/test-runs/new endpoint, which authorizes access using the workflow:read scope instead of workflow:execute. An authenticated user with read-only access to a workflow can trigger a real evaluation test run, causing the workflow to execute via the internal workflow runner and resulting in unintended outbound API calls, data mutations, or other side effects in connected downstream systems. The issue primarily affects instances using the Evaluations feature where RBAC project roles grant workflow:read without workflow:execute.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:L/SC:L/SI:L/SA:L","score":5.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L","score":7.4},"cwes":["CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/security/advisories/GHSA-hv7x-3x78-gx53","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/n8n-incorrect-oauth-scope-validation-in-workflow-test-run-endpoint"],"products":["n8n:n8n"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-29T19:44:52.144667018+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-56776","score":0.00276,"percentile":0.19979,"date":"2026-10-29"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-hv7x-3x78-gx53","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hv7x-3x78-gx53","summary":"n8n: Wrong OAuth Scope On Evaluations Test Run Creation Endpoint","modified":"2026-07-09T04:11:38.260666304Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":["<1.123.55"],"fixed":["1.123.55"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":[">=2.26.0 <2.26.2"],"fixed":["2.26.2"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":[">=2.0.0-rc.0 <2.25.7"],"fixed":["2.25.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
