{"cve":"CVE-2026-55865","nvd":{"published":"2026-07-09T21:16:56.277","modified":"2026-10-25T17:10:00.197","status":"Deferred","description":"Python Liquid is a Python engine for the Liquid template language. Prior to 2.2.1, given a malformed {% case %} tag without an associated {% when %} or {% else %} block and no terminating {% endcase %} tag, Python Liquid hangs in an infinite loop at parse time because liquid.TokenStream.eof did not give the EOF token matching kind and value fields, allowing malicious template authors to craft templates for a denial of service attack. This issue is fixed in version 2.2.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.1},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-835"],"references":["https://github.com/jg-rp/liquid/commit/26db8931cf35e8433c1ca506fc32c3bb62f743d4","https://github.com/jg-rp/liquid/releases/tag/v2.2.1","https://github.com/jg-rp/liquid/security/advisories/GHSA-vq2f-vcc9-j8mv"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T17:50:06.907763985+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-55865","score":0.00451,"percentile":0.38903,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-vq2f-vcc9-j8mv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-vq2f-vcc9-j8mv","summary":"Python Liquid: Infinite loop when parsing malformed `{% case %}` tags","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:09.596917909Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"python-liquid","purl":"pkg:pypi/python-liquid","ranges":["<2.2.1"],"fixed":["2.2.1"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3035","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3035","summary":"Python Liquid: Infinite loop when parsing malformed `{% case %}` tags","modified":"2026-07-13T16:33:29.033510918Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"python-liquid","purl":"pkg:pypi/python-liquid","ranges":["<2.2.1"],"fixed":["2.2.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
