From 11.3.0 until 11.5.3, `pnpm stage download` derived a local filename from registry-controlled package name and version fields. A crafted manifest could escape the selected download directory and overwrite another reachable file. The merged fix validates both fields, derives one safe filename, and verifies the final destination before writing. This vulnerability is fixed in 11.5.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:L","score":7.1},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-73"],"references":["https://github.com/pnpm/pnpm/pull/12303","https://github.com/pnpm/pnpm/security/advisories/GHSA-v23m-ccfg-pq9h"],"products":["pnpm:pnpm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-55700","score":0.00417,"percentile":0.36046,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-v23m-ccfg-pq9h","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-v23m-ccfg-pq9h","summary":"pnpm: `stage download` writes outside its destination directory via manifest name/version traversal","modified":"2026-06-27T00:11:29.671729Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"pnpm","purl":"pkg:npm/pnpm","ranges":[">=11.3.0 <11.5.3"],"fixed":["11.5.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
