A local unprivileged attacker on a Linux client host can hijack client-side X11 forwarding connections. This is possible by pre-binding the preferred abstract X socket name when X11 forwarding is enabled and a local UNIX-domain X socket is used. A successful attack can compromise the confidentiality of forwarded X11 traffic, including sensitive window contents and input, and may allow some manipulation of the forwarded session.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-923"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:36759","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:47755","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:47756","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:47757","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:54387"],"products":["openbsd:openssh","redhat:enterprise_linux"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T05:25:34.680713055+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-55655","score":0.00095,"percentile":0.00654,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
