{"cve":"CVE-2026-55524","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-05T20:17:10.847","modified":"2026-10-24T16:10:00.153","status":"Deferred","description":"PraisonAI is a multi-agent teams system. In versions prior to 1.6.58, the web_crawl tool performs its SSRF check only on the initially supplied URL, allowing the protection to be bypassed so the tool connects to attacker-chosen internal destinations. The check resolves the hostname once with socket.gethostbyname and rejects private/loopback/link-local results, but then passes the URL to a fetcher using httpx.Client(follow_redirects=True) (or urllib.request.urlopen when httpx is absent, which also follows redirects) that re-resolves the hostname at connect time with no further validation. This validate-here/fetch-there gap is exploitable through both HTTP redirects and DNS rebinding. If an attacker can influence URLs passed to web_crawl(), directly or through an agent/tool workflow, they can cause the PraisonAI host to fetch loopback, private-network, or cloud metadata endpoints reachable from that host, with the response body returned in the web_crawl() result. This issue has been fixed in version 1.6.58.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-367","CWE-918"],"references":["https://github.com/MervinPraison/PraisonAI/security/advisories/GHSA-vg6p-v9vm-6fgj","https://github.com/MervinPraison/PraisonAI/security/advisories/GHSA-vg6p-v9vm-6fgj"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:34.184483516+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-55524","score":0.00242,"percentile":0.15196,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-vg6p-v9vm-6fgj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-vg6p-v9vm-6fgj","summary":"praisonaiagents vulnerable to SSRF in web_crawl tool via redirect-following and DNS rebinding (validate-then-fetch gap)","modified":"2026-09-10T12:26:05.868338208Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"praisonaiagents","purl":"pkg:pypi/praisonaiagents","ranges":["<1.6.58"],"fixed":["1.6.58"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3904","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3904","summary":"praisonaiagents vulnerable to SSRF in web_crawl tool via redirect-following and DNS rebinding (validate-then-fetch gap)","modified":"2026-09-10T12:15:11.255794100Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"praisonaiagents","purl":"pkg:pypi/praisonaiagents","ranges":["<1.6.58"],"fixed":["1.6.58"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
