From 0.12.0 to before 0.24.0, sending a pure prompt embeds payload in a /v1/completions request with a model using M-RoPE causes EngineCore to fail an assertion and fatally crash, shutting down the entire server application. Any remote user who is authorized to make a /v1/completions request can make such a request and induce a crash. This issue is fixed in version 0.24.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.1},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-617"],"references":["https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/commit/470229c37efaf69c86e8bc97482b0b1ff7551c65","https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/pull/45252","https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/releases/tag/v0.24.0","https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/security/advisories/GHSA-33cg-gxv8-3p8g"],"products":["vllm:vllm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T23:44:34.550481224+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-55514","score":0.00665,"percentile":0.51493,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-33cg-gxv8-3p8g","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-33cg-gxv8-3p8g","summary":"vLLM denial of service via prompt embeds on M-RoPE models","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:51.451622987Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vllm","purl":"pkg:pypi/vllm","ranges":[">=0.12.0 <0.24.0"],"fixed":["0.24.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2303","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2303","summary":"","modified":"2026-07-13T07:15:46.624479183Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vllm","purl":"pkg:pypi/vllm","ranges":[">=0.12.0 <0.24.0"],"fixed":["0.24.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
