{"cve":"CVE-2026-54736","nvd":{"published":"2026-07-10T22:16:42.970","modified":"2026-10-25T15:10:00.147","status":"Deferred","description":"Phalcon is a high-performance, full-stack PHP framework. Prior to 5.14.1, Phalcon\\Encryption\\Crypt::decrypt compares the attacker-supplied HMAC tag against the freshly computed HMAC using PHP/Zephir identity comparison, which lowers to a byte-wise comparison that returns early on the first differing byte. This observable timing discrepancy can allow an attacker to recover a valid tag byte-by-byte and attach it to a chosen IV and ciphertext so that decrypt() accepts tampered encrypted content as authentic. This issue is fixed in version 5.14.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.2},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-208","CWE-347"],"references":["https://github.com/phalcon/cphalcon/commit/ad53ab1b2e7ec59b3af92b0b37b8aaa099011137","https://github.com/phalcon/cphalcon/issues/17090","https://github.com/phalcon/cphalcon/pull/17091","https://github.com/phalcon/cphalcon/releases/tag/v5.14.1","https://github.com/phalcon/cphalcon/security/advisories/GHSA-8jqh-95g6-7jpj"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T17:50:06.907763985+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54736","score":0.0018,"percentile":0.07549,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
