Prior to 26.15.0, AppImage targets built by app-builder-lib could use an empty path component when setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable at runtime. This causes the current working directory to be added to the dynamic linker search path, which may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code by placing a malicious shared library in the directory from which the AppImage is launched. This issue has been fixed in version 26.15.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-427"],"references":["https://github.com/electron-userland/electron-builder/commit/01b8ba979","https://github.com/electron-userland/electron-builder/security/advisories/GHSA-7g7r-gx96-252g"],"products":["electron:electron-builder"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:42:16.820116992+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54672","score":0.00186,"percentile":0.08257,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7g7r-gx96-252g","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7g7r-gx96-252g","summary":"electron-updater: Uncontrolled search path elements within `AppImage` built by `app-builder-lib`","modified":"2026-07-24T14:15:41.360907768Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"app-builder-lib","purl":"pkg:npm/app-builder-lib","ranges":["<26.15.0"],"fixed":["26.15.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
