{"cve":"CVE-2026-54426","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-21T12:17:21.180","modified":"2026-10-22T16:56:37.023","status":"Deferred","description":"Uncontrolled recursion in the Redis reply parser in Apache bRPC < 1.18.0 allows a remote Redis server peer to crash a bRPC Redis client process by returning a deeply nested RESP array reply. The parser recursed once for each nested array level without enforcing a depth limit. The fix adds a configurable Redis reply depth limit with default value 128 and rejects replies exceeding that limit. \n\nAffected Scenarios:\nApplications using bRPC as a Redis client with ChannelOptions.protocol=\"redis\" and receiving replies from an untrusted or faulty Redis server peer.\n\nHow to Fix:\n1. Upgrade Apache bRPC to 1.18.0.\n2. Apply the patch from PR https://github.com/apache/brpc/pull/3344 .\n\nNote:\nAfter applying the fix, Redis replies with array nesting deeper than redis_max_reply_depth are rejected.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-674"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread/2pf15ojj0vr7rtx95677kgtl1mx3gdgb"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-23T16:39:26.291718493+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54426","score":0.00159,"percentile":0.04962,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
