{"cve":"CVE-2026-54328","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-23T20:16:49.603","modified":"2026-10-25T23:10:00.167","status":"Deferred","description":"Pi is a minimal terminal coding harness. From 0.74.0 until 0.78.1, Pi versions with temporary npm or git extension package installs used predictable paths under the operating system temporary directory. On Linux-based multi-user systems, a local attacker who can write to the shared temporary directory could prepare the expected package location before another user runs pi with a temporary extension package source. Pi could then load attacker-controlled extension code in the victim user's process. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.78.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.3},"cwes":["CWE-379"],"references":["https://github.com/earendil-works/pi/commit/a98e087e5d08ea2a536bf73dbb0aebb87c3ef72e","https://github.com/earendil-works/pi/commit/ea3465a8e371a12d0167a06b60f93878e3a3df44","https://github.com/earendil-works/pi/pull/5345","https://github.com/earendil-works/pi/releases/tag/v0.78.1","https://github.com/earendil-works/pi/security/advisories/GHSA-jfgx-wxx8-mp94"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T23:44:33.281319194+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54328","score":0.00164,"percentile":0.05574,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-jfgx-wxx8-mp94","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-jfgx-wxx8-mp94","summary":"Pi Agent: Predictable temporary extension install paths allow local privilege escalation on shared Linux hosts","modified":"2026-07-20T21:30:40.271368329Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@earendil-works/pi-coding-agent","purl":"pkg:npm/%40earendil-works/pi-coding-agent","ranges":[">=0.74.0 <0.78.1"],"fixed":["0.78.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@mariozechner/pi-coding-agent","purl":"pkg:npm/%40mariozechner/pi-coding-agent","ranges":[">=0.50.0 <=0.73.1"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
