Prior to 6.4.6, the spreadAttributes function in Astro's server-side rendering pipeline iterates over object keys and passes them directly to addAttribute, which interpolates the key into the HTML output without escaping. When a developer uses the spread syntax {...props} on an HTML element and the object keys come from an untrusted source (API, CMS, URL parameters), an attacker can inject arbitrary HTML attributes including event handlers like onmousemove, onclick, or break out of the attribute context entirely to inject new elements. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.4.6.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/withastro/astro/security/advisories/GHSA-jrpj-wcv7-9fh9","https://github.com/withastro/astro/security/advisories/GHSA-jrpj-wcv7-9fh9"],"products":["astro:astro"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T23:44:33.281319194+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54298","score":0.00228,"percentile":0.1341,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-jrpj-wcv7-9fh9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-jrpj-wcv7-9fh9","summary":"Astro: XSS via Unescaped Attribute Names in Spread Props","modified":"2026-07-18T17:30:29.150375911Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"astro","purl":"pkg:npm/astro","ranges":["<6.4.6"],"fixed":["6.4.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
