{"cve":"CVE-2026-54232","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-22T23:16:30.873","modified":"2026-10-25T23:10:00.167","status":"Analyzed","description":"vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models (LLMs). Prior to 0.22.1, the vLLM Dockerfile is vulnerable to a dependency confusion attack through the flashinfer-jit-cache package. The package is installed from a custom index (flashinfer.ai/whl/) using --extra-index-url, but the package name was not registered on PyPI, and UV_INDEX_STRATEGY=\"unsafe-best-match\" is set globally. An attacker who registers flashinfer-jit-cache on PyPI with version 0.6.11.post2 can execute arbitrary code as root during the Docker build and backdoor every resulting container image, enabling exfiltration of all user prompts, API credentials, and model data from production vLLM deployments This vulnerability is fixed in 0.22.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-427"],"references":["https://github.com/vllm-project/vllm/security/advisories/GHSA-jrf6-vqxq-pjv2"],"products":["vllm:vllm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T23:44:33.281319194+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54232","score":0.00563,"percentile":0.46529,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"PYSEC-2026-227","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-227","summary":"","modified":"2026-06-26T00:00:06.054142968Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vllm","purl":"pkg:pypi/vllm","ranges":["<0.22.1"],"fixed":["0.22.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
