{"cve":"CVE-2026-54155","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-14T17:17:46.737","modified":"2026-09-30T19:38:27.293","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"node-opcua is an OPC UA implementation for TypeScript and Node.js. Prior to 2.166.0, the UserNameIdentityToken authentication handler in packages/node-opcua-server/source/opcua_server.ts decrypts an RSA-OAEP password blob but does not verify that the trailing bytes match the current session serverNonce. An unauthenticated remote attacker can obtain the server public key through GetEndpoints and forge a blob whose little-endian length produces an empty password passed to isValidUser, compromising accounts that accept an empty password. Missing nonce binding also allows a captured UserNameIdentityToken ciphertext to be replayed in another session, and SecurityMode=None removes the separate client-signature safeguard. This issue is fixed in version 2.166.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:L","score":7.7},"cwes":["CWE-347"],"references":["https://github.com/node-opcua/node-opcua/commit/c6b05738682f5c8d70b1ea275c881f01a1cd9787","https://github.com/node-opcua/node-opcua/releases/tag/v2.166.0","https://github.com/node-opcua/node-opcua/security/advisories/GHSA-mq36-523m-x7vv"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:53:43.293028046+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54155","score":0.00424,"percentile":0.36386,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mq36-523m-x7vv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mq36-523m-x7vv","summary":"node-opcua missing nonce verification in UserNameIdentityToken authentication","modified":"2026-08-20T18:48:09.721933Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"node-opcua","purl":"pkg:npm/node-opcua","ranges":["<=2.165.0"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
