{"cve":"CVE-2026-54135","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-11T20:17:14.330","modified":"2026-09-30T19:57:08.043","status":"Deferred","description":"AirSane is a SANE frontend, and a scanner server that supports Apple's AirScan protocol. Versions prior to 0.4.12 have a vulnerability in the custom HTTP server implementation of AirSane that allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via memory exhaustion (OOM). In httpserver.cpp, the HttpServer::Request::content function reads the Content-Length header and directly passes this value to std::string::resize() without any upper-bound validation or safe parsing. An attacker can send an HTTP POST request with an artificially large Content-Length value. This forces the daemon to attempt allocating gigabytes of memory, resulting in a std::bad_alloc exception and immediately crashing the AirSane process. Additionally, providing non-numeric characters in the Content-Length header leads to undefined behavior (NaN to integer conversion) due to the lack of error handling during header parsing. Version 0.4.12 patches the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-400","CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/commit/129cc3bf7258251a0a694dee7741285b59d88f9f","https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/releases/tag/v0.4.12","https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/security/advisories/GHSA-p5hv-3m79-452q","https://github.com/SimulPiscator/AirSane/security/advisories/GHSA-p5hv-3m79-452q"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:53:43.293028046+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54135","score":0.00761,"percentile":0.55056,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
