Prior to 0.9.6, Open WebUI lets an authenticated user attach arbitrary file_id values to their own chat message without checking whether they own or can read those files. If the attacker then shares that chat and grants themselves read access, has_access_to_file() treats the victim file as accessible through the shared chat, and the file endpoints read or delete the victim file. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.9.6.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:L","score":8.3},"cwes":["CWE-284","CWE-639","CWE-862"],"references":["https://github.com/open-webui/open-webui/security/advisories/GHSA-vrhc-3fr6-pc3c","https://github.com/open-webui/open-webui/security/advisories/GHSA-vrhc-3fr6-pc3c"],"products":["openwebui:open_webui"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-54010","score":0.0042,"percentile":0.36338,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-vrhc-3fr6-pc3c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-vrhc-3fr6-pc3c","summary":"Open WebUI: Forged chat-file link allows cross-user file read and deletion","modified":"2026-07-20T21:15:24.581110616Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"open-webui","purl":"pkg:pypi/open-webui","ranges":["<0.9.6"],"fixed":["0.9.6"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2763","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2763","summary":"Open WebUI: Forged chat-file link allows cross-user file read and deletion","modified":"2026-07-13T16:32:25.010142087Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"open-webui","purl":"pkg:pypi/open-webui","ranges":["<0.9.6"],"fixed":["0.9.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
