{"cve":"CVE-2026-53769","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-04T21:17:25.300","modified":"2026-09-30T19:57:08.043","status":"Deferred","description":"Avo is a framework to create admin panels for Ruby on Rails apps. From version 2.28.0 to before version 3.32.0, Avo's direct attachment upload endpoint lacks server-side upload authorization and bypasses the documented field-level upload policy methods such as upload_{FIELD_ID}?. An authenticated Avo user who can reach the Avo attachment upload endpoint can replace or add attachment content, including binary content, filename, and content-type metadata, on a resolved record even when both update? and upload_<field>? policies deny the operation. This primarily affects multi-role Avo Pro/Advanced-style deployments where non-administrator or restricted operator users can reach Avo and per-record or per-field operations are expected to be enforced by policies. This issue has been patched in version 3.32.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-862","CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/avo-hq/avo/commit/de12070dbac0cb6a7e2bea357f9697f99e92554c","https://github.com/avo-hq/avo/pull/4520","https://github.com/avo-hq/avo/releases/tag/v3.32.0","https://github.com/avo-hq/avo/security/advisories/GHSA-pqpw-cvm4-8mv9","https://github.com/avo-hq/avo/security/advisories/GHSA-pqpw-cvm4-8mv9"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:52:03.409947763+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-53769","score":0.00423,"percentile":0.36301,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pqpw-cvm4-8mv9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pqpw-cvm4-8mv9","summary":"Avo: Direct attachment upload endpoint lacks upload authorization and bypasses field-level upload policy","modified":"2026-07-09T21:11:39.299046Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"avo","purl":"pkg:gem/avo","ranges":[">=2.28.0 <3.32.0"],"fixed":["3.32.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
