{"cve":"CVE-2026-5366","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-20T17:16:26.560","modified":"2026-10-25T23:10:00.167","status":"Analyzed","description":"Prefect version 3.6.23 is vulnerable to remote code execution due to improper handling of user-controlled input in the `GitRepository` storage class. The `commit_sha` parameter, which is passed to git commands, lacks validation and does not include a `--` separator to distinguish user input from git flags. This allows attackers to inject arbitrary git flags, such as `--upload-pack`, enabling execution of external programs. Additionally, the `directories` parameter can be exploited to inject git flags during sparse-checkout operations. These vulnerabilities allow any user with deployment creation permissions to execute arbitrary commands on worker machines, compromising shared work pools in multi-tenant environments.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.9},"cwes":["CWE-94"],"references":["https://huntr.com/bounties/e2e88a0f-a8f6-49c9-94c5-e98dc385f07a","https://huntr.com/bounties/e2e88a0f-a8f6-49c9-94c5-e98dc385f07a"],"products":["prefect:prefect"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T23:44:33.281319194+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-5366","score":0.01034,"percentile":0.6362,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
