{"cve":"CVE-2026-53632","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-22T18:16:44.827","modified":"2026-06-23T15:44:39.343","status":"Deferred","description":"launch-editor allows users to open files with line numbers in editor from Node.js. Prior to 2.14.1, the launch-editor NPM package accesses arbitrary paths including Windows UNC paths. When a UNC path is opened, Windows automatically attempts NTLM authentication to the remote host, causing the user’s NTLMv2 password hash to be leaked to an attacker-controlled SMB server. This can result in credential compromise through offline hash cracking. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.14.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H","score":5.5},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-73","CWE-522"],"references":["https://github.com/vitejs/launch-editor/security/advisories/GHSA-v6wh-96g9-6wx3","https://github.com/vitejs/launch-editor/security/advisories/GHSA-v6wh-96g9-6wx3"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:39:28.638635428+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-53632","score":0.00408,"percentile":0.35134,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-v6wh-96g9-6wx3","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-v6wh-96g9-6wx3","summary":"launch-editor: NTLMv2 hash disclosure via UNC path handling on Windows","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:50.705036566Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"launch-editor","purl":"pkg:npm/launch-editor","ranges":["<2.14.1"],"fixed":["2.14.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":[">=8.0.0 <8.0.16"],"fixed":["8.0.16"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":[">=7.0.0 <7.3.5"],"fixed":["7.3.5"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite","purl":"pkg:npm/vite","ranges":["<6.4.3"],"fixed":["6.4.3"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vite-plus","purl":"pkg:npm/vite-plus","ranges":["<0.1.24"],"fixed":["0.1.24"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
