This function returns a pointer, and if it fails (e.g., due\nto memory allocation failure), it returns an error pointer which must\nbe checked using IS_ERR().\n\nIf the registration fails, the driver continues to probe, but the jack\ndetection callback will not be registered. This can lead to a kernel\ncrash later when the driver attempts to handle jack events or accesses\nthe uninitialized structure.\n\nCheck the return value using IS_ERR() and propagate the error via\nPTR_ERR() to the probe caller.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-476"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1da5c73f3793b224696617a2a21def7500ba18d6","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/49c2c5924552e1d2f8b635dee663abebbb7cf63b","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a2a33e87a2ffce3046c574d24eec4390c27c9365","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b0e2333a231107adedd38c6fcfe1adc6162716fc","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d68f753d89f4ef6e410d7e8b7e8ab2fdde921b80"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-53291","score":0.00123,"percentile":0.02,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
