Both use `module_init, so\n`cxl_pci_driver_init()` runs first. When `cxl_pci_probe()` calls\n`fwctl_register()` and then `device_add()`, fwctl_class is not yet\nregistered because fwctl_init() hasn't run, causing `class_to_subsys()` to\nreturn NULL and skip knode_class initialization.\n\nOn device removal, `class_to_subsys()` returns non-NULL, and\n`device_del()` calls `klist_del()` on the uninitialized knode, triggering\na NULL pointer dereference.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-824"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1075f2f590fdac147f8b8010c35b606564b5c7d7","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a28f56988c8e5bb9375806a5cfb0bf54d662ae3f","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a55f80233f384dc89ef3425b2e1dd0e6d44bcf29"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-53042","score":0.0016,"percentile":0.05161,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
