This breaks the non-concurrency\nassumptions when doing the mm->futex_ref pcpu allocations, leading to\nbugs[0] when sharing the mm in other ways; ie:\n\n BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in futex_hash_put\n\n... where the +1 bias can end up on a percpu counter that mm->futex_ref\nno longer points at.\n\nLoosen the check to cover any CLONE_VM clone, except vfork(). Excluding\nvfork keeps the existing paths untouched (no overhead), and we can't\nrace in the first place: either the parent is suspended and the child\nruns alone, or mm->futex_ref is already allocated from an earlier\nCLONE_VM.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-416","CWE-825"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/1dcd36420af2da5bd59306dba9caf78e3d248b1d","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/974ac49a9a068b0591a59f65c63eb06579a13091","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/ee9dce44362b2d8132c32964656ab6dff7dfbc6a","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:45114","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:47040"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-21T03:43:09.190223697+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-52973","score":0.00184,"percentile":0.0791,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
