{"cve":"CVE-2026-52878","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-07T23:17:04.593","modified":"2026-10-24T16:10:00.153","status":"Deferred","description":"Klever-Go is the Go implementation of the Klever blockchain protocol. Versions 1.7.14 through 1.7.17 are vulnerable to a nil-pointer panic triggered by a protobuf Transaction whose embedded RawData sub-message is omitted. This omission causes RawData to decode to nil. Every transaction gossiped on the Klever-Go P2P network is decoded and validated synchronously inside the libp2p pubsub topic-validator callback, where txVersionChecker.CheckTxVersion dereferences tx.RawData.Version with no nil check. Because the libp2p pubsub callback, the underlying go-libp2p-pubsub validation worker, and Klever's own network/p2p layer install no recover(), the panic propagates and crashes the entire node process. The attacker payload is a 3-byte protobuf message; no validator key, stake, funds, or on-chain account is required, and delivery aimed at enough of the BLS validator set can halt block production, resulting in a chain halt. This issue has been fixed in version 1.7.18.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-476"],"references":["https://github.com/klever-io/klever-go/releases/tag/v1.7.18","https://github.com/klever-io/klever-go/security/advisories/GHSA-rm5c-5x2p-48wr","https://github.com/klever-io/klever-go/security/advisories/GHSA-rm5c-5x2p-48wr"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:34.184483516+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-52878","score":0.00488,"percentile":0.4171,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rm5c-5x2p-48wr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rm5c-5x2p-48wr","summary":"Klever-Go KVM: Unauthenticated remote node crash (nil-pointer DoS) in klever-go P2P transaction interceptor (txVersionChecker nil RawData) - potential chain halt","modified":"2026-06-25T23:11:42.644564465Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/klever-io/klever-go","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/klever-io/klever-go","ranges":[">=1.7.14 <1.7.18"],"fixed":["1.7.18"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-5628","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-5628","summary":"Klever-Go KVM: Unauthenticated remote node crash (nil-pointer DoS) in klever-go P2P transaction interceptor (txVersionChecker nil RawData) - potential chain halt in github.com/klever-io/klever-go","modified":"2026-06-25T23:01:36.337949263Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/klever-io/klever-go","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/klever-io/klever-go","ranges":[">=1.7.14 <1.7.18"],"fixed":["1.7.18"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
