{"cve":"CVE-2026-52876","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-18T22:16:54.173","modified":"2026-10-22T17:09:59.477","status":"Deferred","description":"Streambert is a cross-platform Electron Desktop App to stream and download video content. Prior to version 2.6.0, the open-path-at-time IPC handler in src/ipc/player.js accepts a renderer-controlled filePath without validating its type or location. If the mpv or VLC launch attempts are skipped or fail, the handler passes filePath to Electron's shell.openPath. A compromised renderer can provide the path of a local executable, script, shortcut, or other file with an executing default handler, causing the operating system to launch it with the privileges of the StreamBERT process and enabling escape from the renderer sandbox. This issue is fixed in version 2.6.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-20","CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/truelockmc/streambert/commit/43566ed031183b046675761c9813c5379b619269","https://github.com/truelockmc/streambert/pull/149","https://github.com/truelockmc/streambert/releases/tag/2.6.0","https://github.com/truelockmc/streambert/security/advisories/GHSA-85vf-2qwc-qpm4"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-23T16:39:26.291718493+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-52876","score":0.002,"percentile":0.09674,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
