The application only strips ANSI SGR sequences while allowing other control characters, including carriage return (\\r) and escape sequences (e.g., OSC, CSI), to pass through unsanitized.\n\nAn attacker can embed malicious control sequences in filenames, diff metadata, or file content that are rendered directly in the terminal during diff viewing. This can lead to output manipulation, including filename spoofing, terminal screen clearing, and clipboard injection via supported escape sequences.\n\nSuccessful exploitation may mislead users during code review, alter terminal state, or result in unintended command execution through clipboard hijacking.\n\nThis issue has been fixed in the commit 9c81294","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:L/SA:N","score":4.8},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-116"],"references":["https://cert.pl/posts/2026/07/CVE-2026-41874/","https://github.com/so-fancy/diff-so-fancy"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:27.712498749+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-50642","score":0.00229,"percentile":0.13527,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
