{"cve":"CVE-2026-50015","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-25T18:16:39.167","modified":"2026-06-29T21:15:11.907","status":"Analyzed","description":"pnpm is a package manager. Prior to 10.34.0 and 11.4.0, pnpm's patch application pipeline (@pnpm/patch-package) performs no path validation on file paths extracted from .patch files. An attacker who contributes a malicious patch file via a pull request can write attacker-controlled content to or delete arbitrary files on the filesystem during pnpm install, as the user running the install. The diff --git header paths containing ../../ sequences traverse out of the package directory, and the traversal is difficult to catch in code review because patch file diff headers are opaque to most reviewers. This vulnerability is fixed in 10.34.0 and 11.4.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","score":7.3},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/pnpm/pnpm/security/advisories/GHSA-rxhj-4m44-96r4","https://github.com/pnpm/pnpm/security/advisories/GHSA-rxhj-4m44-96r4"],"products":["pnpm:pnpm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-50015","score":0.00428,"percentile":0.37083,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rxhj-4m44-96r4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rxhj-4m44-96r4","summary":"pnpm Vulnerable to Arbitrary File Write/Delete via Malicious Patch File (Path Traversal)","modified":"2026-06-26T23:26:34.372186Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"pnpm","purl":"pkg:npm/pnpm","ranges":["<10.34.0"],"fixed":["10.34.0"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"pnpm","purl":"pkg:npm/pnpm","ranges":[">=11.0.0 <11.4.0"],"fixed":["11.4.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
