Prior to version 3.0.4, the wetty client decodes a base64 filename from the file-download escape sequence and interpolates it raw into a Toastify HTML string (`escapeMarkup: false`). Any output the victim renders - a `cat`'d file, a tailed log, an SSH MOTD, a `curl` response - that contains `\\x1b[5i...:...\\x1b[4i` runs script in the wetty origin and types attacker-chosen keystrokes into the victim's SSH session. Version 3.0.4 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.6},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/butlerx/wetty/security/advisories/GHSA-p26j-h7wj-r568","https://github.com/butlerx/wetty/security/advisories/GHSA-p26j-h7wj-r568"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:48:17.459049833+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-49864","score":0.00444,"percentile":0.38598,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-p26j-h7wj-r568","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-p26j-h7wj-r568","summary":"wetty vulnerable to DOM XSS via file-download filename","modified":"2026-07-01T18:41:31.700322Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"wetty","purl":"pkg:npm/wetty","ranges":["<3.0.4"],"fixed":["3.0.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
