Prior to 3.4.6, DOMPurify.sanitize(root, { IN_PLACE: true }) could preserve event-handler attributes on an attacker-controlled <form> root when a descendant name clobbered properties checked by _isClobbered, because _forceRemove no-opped on the parent-less root and _sanitizeAttributes returned early. This issue is fixed in version 3.4.6.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79","CWE-693","CWE-1321"],"references":["https://github.com/cure53/DOMPurify/commit/bb7739e5bccec7e1ab3dae3f3e42d02db3acaaae","https://github.com/cure53/DOMPurify/releases/tag/3.4.6","https://github.com/cure53/DOMPurify/security/advisories/GHSA-r47g-fvhr-h676","https://github.com/cure53/DOMPurify/security/advisories/GHSA-r47g-fvhr-h676"],"products":["cure53:dompurify"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T17:50:06.907763985+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-49459","score":0.00365,"percentile":0.30033,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-r47g-fvhr-h676","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-r47g-fvhr-h676","summary":"DOMPurify: IN_PLACE mode preserves attributes of a clobbered root element, allowing XSS via attacker-controlled root DOM","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:09.479024802Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"dompurify","purl":"pkg:npm/dompurify","ranges":["<3.4.6"],"fixed":["3.4.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
