Prior to 8.0.0-rc.6 and 7.29.6, @babel/core affected by an arbitrary file read via a sourceMappingURL comment. Using @babel/core to compile maliciously crafted code can allow an attacker to read any source map from the system that is running Babel, if the attacker controls the input source code, can read the output source code, and knows the path of the source map file that they want to read. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.0.0-rc.6 and 7.29.6.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":3.6},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-200"],"references":["https://github.com/babel/babel/security/advisories/GHSA-4x5r-pxfx-6jf8"],"products":["babel:babel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:39:28.638635428+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-49356","score":0.00152,"percentile":0.04306,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-4x5r-pxfx-6jf8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4x5r-pxfx-6jf8","summary":"@babel/core: Arbitrary File Read via sourceMappingURL Comment","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:48.280629201Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@babel/core","purl":"pkg:npm/%40babel/core","ranges":[">=8.0.0-alpha.0 <8.0.0-rc.6"],"fixed":["8.0.0-rc.6"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@babel/core","purl":"pkg:npm/%40babel/core","ranges":["<7.29.6"],"fixed":["7.29.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
