{"cve":"CVE-2026-49289","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-19T15:17:07.180","modified":"2026-09-18T20:09:01.757","status":"Deferred","description":"The SimpleSAMLphp SAML2 library is a PHP library for SAML2 related functionality. In 4.19.2 and 4.20.2, the library permits attacker-controlled XPath transforms while processing XML signatures in specially crafted SAML messages. XPath evaluation can consume uncontrolled processing resources, allowing a remote unauthenticated attacker to deny service to any entity relying on SimpleSAMLphp or directly on the SAML2 library. The mitigation limits the number of transforms, permits only transform algorithms identified by the SAML 2.0 Core specification, and specifically rejects XPath transforms. This issue is fixed in versions 4.19.3 and 4.20.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-400"],"references":["https://github.com/simplesamlphp/saml2/commit/0043033891fdba9618386ab583e1d8afdf8aea6e","https://github.com/simplesamlphp/saml2/commit/6695eb923da491f716009c2a26b34a463ac05c6b","https://github.com/simplesamlphp/saml2/security/advisories/GHSA-5cjr-mxj5-wmrx"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:49:38.260478770+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-49289","score":0.00784,"percentile":0.56065,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
