{"cve":"CVE-2026-49269","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-24T16:16:30.410","modified":"2026-06-25T19:14:05.160","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"Apple M1 GPUs retain register file data between compute shader dispatches from different processes. A sandboxed Metal attacker app can run a GPU reader shader that reads stale register values left by a separate sandboxed victim app. In the proof of concept, GPUVictim.app generates a fresh random 128-bit secret using SecRandomCopyBytes and loads it into GPU registers. GPUAttacker.app, a separate sandboxed app, recovers the exact secret from stale GPU register state. NOTE: The vendor stated that this behavior affects only legacy hardware and has already been addressed at the hardware level in current-generation Apple Silicon.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":8.6},"cwes":["CWE-200"],"references":["https://gist.github.com/scndls/9cbe31f2b0b1578eaeb311e601335355"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-49269","score":0.00416,"percentile":0.35884,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
