User-supplied username input is directly concatenated into the LDAP DN template without any escaping of RFC 2253 special characters. This allows an attacker to manipulate the DN structure used for LDAP bind authentication, potentially bypassing authentication or impersonating other users.\n\nThis issue affects all Apache Shiro versions through 2.2.0, and 3.0.0-alpha-1 when using DefaultLdapRealm\nUpgrade to Apache Shiro 2.2.1 or 3.0.0-alpha-2 or later, which fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/S:P/AU:Y/R:A/RE:L/U:Red","score":8.8},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":9.1},"cwes":["CWE-90"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread/svszql3od8td7hn6conyj2oq70v53b5s","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2026/06/17/8"],"products":["apache:shiro"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T00:31:35.753532240+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-49268","score":0.00512,"percentile":0.43364,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x96m-rh44-vgv8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x96m-rh44-vgv8","summary":"Apache Shiro: LDAP DN Injection in DefaultLdapRealm","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:12.326180132Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.shiro:shiro-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.shiro/shiro-core","ranges":["<2.2.1"],"fixed":["2.2.1"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.shiro:shiro-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.shiro/shiro-core","ranges":[">=3.0.0-alpha-0 <3.0.0-alpha-2"],"fixed":["3.0.0-alpha-2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
