{"cve":"CVE-2026-48989","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-17T22:16:23.040","modified":"2026-10-26T12:10:00.130","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"Windows-MCP is an open-source project that integrates AI agents with Windows. In versions prior to 0.7.5, certain HTTP modes exposed the MCP control plane without authentication while enabling wildcard CORS (allow_origins=*, allow_methods=*, allow_headers=*). Because the same server also exposed a PowerShell tool that executes caller-controlled commands as the Windows user running Windows-MCP, attackers could reach the control plane from arbitrary origins or non-browser clients and achieve arbitrary PowerShell execution. This issue was fixed in version 0.7.5.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P","score":8.9},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-306"],"references":["https://github.com/CursorTouch/Windows-MCP/releases/tag/v0.7.5","https://github.com/CursorTouch/Windows-MCP/security/advisories/GHSA-vrxg-gm77-7q5g"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T12:35:18.182177120+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-48989","score":0.00397,"percentile":0.33582,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-vrxg-gm77-7q5g","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-vrxg-gm77-7q5g","summary":"Windows-MCP: HTTP transports expose unauthenticated PowerShell control with wildcard CORS","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:34.100513962Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"windows-mcp","purl":"pkg:pypi/windows-mcp","ranges":["<0.7.5"],"fixed":["0.7.5"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3425","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3425","summary":"Windows-MCP: HTTP transports expose unauthenticated PowerShell control with wildcard CORS","modified":"2026-07-13T16:33:05.718227960Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"windows-mcp","purl":"pkg:pypi/windows-mcp","ranges":["<0.7.5"],"fixed":["0.7.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
