The sanitizer checks only the final filename suffix, allowing double-extension filenames such as shell.php.jpg to bypass the blocklist, with pathinfo() preserving inner .php stems in saved filenames. The blocklist also omits executable extensions including .php6, .shtml, and .htaccess. The double-extension bypass requires a legacy Apache AddHandler configuration to achieve PHP execution; the incomplete blocklist bypass does not.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-184"],"references":["https://github.com/spatie/laravel-medialibrary/commit/608ea03703d3887c46434f5dda6af56de6346aba","https://github.com/spatie/laravel-medialibrary/pull/3939","https://github.com/spatie/laravel-medialibrary/releases/tag/11.23.0","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/spatie-laravel-media-library-file-upload-restriction-bypass-via-fileadder-php"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:37:48.043517290+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-48557","score":0.0044,"percentile":0.37953,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
