{"cve":"CVE-2026-48504","nvd":{"published":"2026-07-17T20:17:21.413","modified":"2026-10-24T20:10:00.137","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"OpenTelemetry Rust is the Rust OpenTelemetry implementation. In 0.32.0 and earlier, BaggagePropagator::extract_with_context in opentelemetry_sdk did not enforce W3C Baggage size limits before parsing an inbound baggage header, so a large attacker-controlled header could cause unnecessary CPU work and short-lived heap allocations while parsing entries later discarded by the SDK's baggage storage limits. Services that accept untrusted inbound propagation headers may experience increased per-request resource usage when processing oversized baggage headers. This issue is fixed in version 0.32.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-rust/commit/a389ca6b3e416416bc8fc9b01cf6076b9182ed14","https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-rust/security/advisories/GHSA-w9wp-h8wv-79jx"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T17:50:08.599881581+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-48504","score":0.00418,"percentile":0.35824,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-w9wp-h8wv-79jx","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-w9wp-h8wv-79jx","summary":"opentelemetry_sdk has unbounded memory allocation in W3C Baggage propagation","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:50.807599062Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"opentelemetry_sdk","purl":"pkg:cargo/opentelemetry_sdk","ranges":["<0.32.1"],"fixed":["0.32.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
