{"cve":"CVE-2026-48170","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-07T22:16:59.170","modified":"2026-10-23T20:10:00.160","status":"Deferred","description":"`scim-patch`, a library to perform SCIM patch, prior to version 0.9.1 performs prototype pollution when applying a SCIM PATCH operation whose `value` object contains a key like `\"__proto__.someProp\"`. After one such patch,\n`Object.prototype.someProp` is set process-wide, affecting every plain object in the Node process. Any service that calls `scimPatch()` on attacker-controlled JSON (i.e. any SCIM endpoint accepting `PATCH` from an external IdP) is exploitable on a stock Node runtime. Version 0.9.1 contains a patch. A workaround is available. Calling `Object.freeze(Object.prototype)` (and the same on `Array.prototype`, `Function.prototype`) at process startup neutralizes this class of bug — assignment to a frozen prototype becomes a silent no-op in sloppy mode or a `TypeError` in strict mode. Node's `--frozen-intrinsics` flag does this for built-ins automatically.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:H/A:L","score":9.1},"cwes":["CWE-1321"],"references":["https://github.com/thomaspoignant/scim-patch/commit/260f9cd2ac5ceac3976978850bb47dcb391720f6","https://github.com/thomaspoignant/scim-patch/security/advisories/GHSA-9m6g-wc8r-q59c","https://github.com/thomaspoignant/scim-patch/security/advisories/GHSA-9m6g-wc8r-q59c"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:34.184483516+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-48170","score":0.00403,"percentile":0.34257,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9m6g-wc8r-q59c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9m6g-wc8r-q59c","summary":"scimPatch vulnerable to prototype pollution via unfiltered keys in patch","modified":"2026-06-22T23:11:28.954476Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"scim-patch","purl":"pkg:npm/scim-patch","ranges":["<0.9.1"],"fixed":["0.9.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
