{"cve":"CVE-2026-47764","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-04T19:16:51.093","modified":"2026-10-24T16:10:00.153","status":"Deferred","description":"pdm is a Python package and dependency manager supporting the latest PEP standards. Versions prior to 2.27.0 are vulnerable to path traversal through write_to_fs. InstallDestination.write_to_fs() in src/pdm/installers/installers.py overrides the base class to add symlink/hardlink support but replaces the safe _path_with_destdir() (which validates via Path.resolve() + is_relative_to()) with a bare os.path.join() that performs no path validation. A malicious wheel with traversal entries can write arbitrary files. This issue has been fixed in version 2.27.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.4},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/pdm-project/pdm/releases/tag/2.27.0","https://github.com/pdm-project/pdm/security/advisories/GHSA-78v8-vpjp-cjqh"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:34.184483516+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-47764","score":0.00197,"percentile":0.09301,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-78v8-vpjp-cjqh","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-78v8-vpjp-cjqh","summary":"PDM wheel installation leads to Path Traversal via overridden write_to_fs","modified":"2026-07-13T16:42:32.212488935Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pdm","purl":"pkg:pypi/pdm","ranges":["<2.27.0"],"fixed":["2.27.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2861","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2861","summary":"PDM wheel installation leads to Path Traversal via overridden write_to_fs","modified":"2026-07-13T16:32:55.750454188Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pdm","purl":"pkg:pypi/pdm","ranges":["<2.27.0"],"fixed":["2.27.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
