{"cve":"CVE-2026-47683","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-17T21:16:45.363","modified":"2026-10-23T16:10:00.313","status":"Deferred","description":"vm2 is an open source vm/sandbox for Node.js. Prior to 3.11.6, the bufferAllocLimit enforcement in lib/setup-sandbox.js does not cover Buffer.concat(list, totalLength) or Buffer.from(arrayLike) with an attacker-controlled length, allowing sandbox code to perform large synchronous host external-memory allocations that bypass the configured cap and can exhaust the host process. This issue is fixed in version 3.11.6.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/commit/3ffb315512e634cf85c447375e85d6c83d00a4bd","https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/releases/tag/3.11.6","https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/security/advisories/GHSA-gmc2-2x9w-cgh9","https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/security/advisories/GHSA-gmc2-2x9w-cgh9"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-23T16:39:26.291718493+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-47683","score":0.00538,"percentile":0.45007,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-gmc2-2x9w-cgh9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-gmc2-2x9w-cgh9","summary":"vm2's bufferAllocLimit cap bypassed by Buffer.concat and Buffer.from arrayLike","modified":"2026-08-17T17:56:03.620615Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vm2","purl":"pkg:npm/vm2","ranges":["<3.11.6"],"fixed":["3.11.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
