{"cve":"CVE-2026-47242","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-22T21:16:24.807","modified":"2026-10-25T23:10:00.167","status":"Deferred","description":"Net::IMAP implements Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) client functionality in Ruby. Prior to 0.6.5 and 0.5.15, when Net::IMAP#id is called with a hash argument, although the ID field value strings are correctly quoted (escaping quoted specials), they were not validated to prohibit CRLF sequences. While Net::IMAP#enable does process its arguments for aliases, it does not validate them as valid atoms (or as a list of valid atoms). The #to_s value is sent verbatim. Arguments to either command could be used by an attacker to inject arbitrary IMAP commands. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.6.5 and 0.5.15.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:P/VC:N/VI:H/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":5.8},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-77","CWE-93"],"references":["https://github.com/ruby/net-imap/security/advisories/GHSA-46q3-7gv7-qmgg"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T23:44:33.281319194+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-47242","score":0.00184,"percentile":0.07877,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-46q3-7gv7-qmgg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-46q3-7gv7-qmgg","summary":"Net::IMAP: Command Injection via ID command argument","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:07.764671473Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"net-imap","purl":"pkg:gem/net-imap","ranges":[">=0.6.0 <0.6.4.1"],"fixed":["0.6.4.1"]},{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"net-imap","purl":"pkg:gem/net-imap","ranges":["<0.5.15"],"fixed":["0.5.15"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
