{"cve":"CVE-2026-47071","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-25T15:16:22.143","modified":"2026-07-24T10:10:00.197","status":"Analyzed","description":"Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in benoitc hackney allows Flooding. The SOCKS5 transport in src/hackney_socks5.erl correctly applies the caller-supplied timeout to the SOCKS5 negotiation phase, but then upgrades the connection to TLS using the two-argument form ssl:connect/2, which defaults to an infinite timeout. The Timeout value is in scope at the call site but is not forwarded. A hostile SOCKS5 proxy that completes the SOCKS5 handshake normally and then goes silent (or sends a partial TLS ServerHello and stalls) will cause the connecting process to block indefinitely, regardless of the connect_timeout or recv_timeout options supplied by the caller.\n\nThis issue affects hackney: from 0.10.0 before 4.0.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-400"],"references":["https://cna.erlef.org/cves/CVE-2026-47071.html","https://github.com/benoitc/hackney/commit/5ccdab725c561a6f03d05a51f2d0664f98236dae","https://github.com/benoitc/hackney/security/advisories/GHSA-gp9c-pm5m-5cxr","https://osv.dev/vulnerability/EEF-CVE-2026-47071","https://github.com/benoitc/hackney/security/advisories/GHSA-gp9c-pm5m-5cxr"],"products":["benoitc:hackney"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-47071","score":0.00753,"percentile":0.55083,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
