A race condition leading to a use-after-free in the pthread-based getaddrinfo timeout handler (rb_getaddrinfo in ext/socket/raddrinfo.c) allows a remote attacker who can delay DNS responses near the user-specified timeout to crash a Ruby process that calls Addrinfo.getaddrinfo(..., timeout:) or Socket.tcp(..., resolv_timeout:). Memory-corruption-based exploitation is theoretically possible. The attack could, for example, be carried out through a crafted authoritative DNS server or recursive resolver.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.1},"cwes":["CWE-362"],"references":["https://hackerone.com/reports/3607434","https://www.ruby-lang.org/en/news/2026/05/20/getaddrinfo-cve-2026-46727/"],"products":["ruby-lang:ruby"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-46727","score":0.00478,"percentile":0.4125,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
