Prior to version 29.7.12, a crafted .drawio file can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the editor's origin when the file is opened. The vulnerability is not in the label sanitizer (which works correctly on the rendering path) but in a feature-detection routine in the Text Format panel that reads the raw cell label and assigns it to a detached element's innerHTML without sanitization. Browsers fire onerror for failed image loads even on detached elements, so an <img src=x onerror=...> payload in any cell label triggers script execution as soon as the cell is selected — which import does automatically. This issue has been patched in version 29.7.12.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/jgraph/drawio/releases/tag/v29.7.12","https://github.com/jgraph/drawio/security/advisories/GHSA-fqhg-287p-c6vf","https://github.com/jgraph/drawio/security/advisories/GHSA-fqhg-287p-c6vf"],"products":["diagrams:drawio"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T11:33:08.859761529+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-46642","score":0.00221,"percentile":0.1256,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
