{"cve":"CVE-2026-46542","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-10T00:16:54.500","modified":"2026-07-23T09:10:00.113","status":"Deferred","description":"Nimiq is a Rust implementation of the Nimiq Proof-of-Stake protocol based on the Albatross consensus algorithm. Prior to version 1.4.0, a denial-of-service vulnerability exists in the Ed25519 multisig delinearization code path. Ed25519PublicKey::delinearize() in keys/src/multisig/mod.rs called .unwrap() on curve point decompression, which panics when a public key is constructed from 32 bytes that do not represent a valid point on the Ed25519 curve. Ed25519PublicKey construction only validates byte length, not curve membership, so invalid keys can reach the delinearization path and crash the hosting process. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-617"],"references":["https://github.com/nimiq/core-rs-albatross/pull/3713","https://github.com/nimiq/core-rs-albatross/releases/tag/v1.4.0","https://github.com/nimiq/core-rs-albatross/security/advisories/GHSA-h9cc-w26m-j342"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:38:48.522727527+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-46542","score":0.00231,"percentile":0.14001,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-h9cc-w26m-j342","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-h9cc-w26m-j342","summary":"nimiq-keys: Denial of service in Ed25519 multisig delinearization via invalid curve points","modified":"2026-06-10T13:45:15.229652763Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"nimiq-keys","purl":"pkg:cargo/nimiq-keys","ranges":["<1.4.0"],"fixed":["1.4.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
